An oil painting class for beginners is a creative and instructional workshop designed to introduce newcomers to the fascinating world of oil painting. In this class, participants will learn the fundamental techniques and principles of working with oil paints, including color mixing, brushwork, layering, and blending.
The class typically covers basic materials and tools, such as canvases, brushes, and oil paints, and provides hands-on guidance for creating your own beautiful oil paintings. It's a great way for beginners to explore their artistic talents and express themselves through this versatile and timeless medium.
List of Materials Required for the Course
Beginner's oil painting class:
Canvas or oil paper pad,
Palette (paper palette pads are suitable),
1 palette knife,
Small amount of solvent (preferably Sansodor, Zestit, or Gamsol),
paper towels or rag,
small (2 or 3) range of brushes suitable for oil paint.
small tubes of oil paint.
I use Windsor and Newton's Windsor range but you are free to use what you like. I suggest Titanium White, Cadmium yellow, Cadmium Red, Alizerian Red, Ultramarine Blue, Raw umber or similar.
Optional additional materials:
Table top box easel
